automounter

Greetings,

I am new to linux. I am not able to start the automounter. Error messages :
mount table full ; mount /net/<hostname>/<mountpoint> failed. and when I
give df, it comes back with a bunch of entries from /tmp/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX/dir2
no such file or directory.

Any help is appreciated.
