do you run your / partition on ext2 or reiserfs ?
kernels between 2.4.17 (if i remember right) and 2.4.19-pre8 seems not
to work with reiserfs on sparc64.
but according to your error message, this doesn't seem to be your
problem...

you can remove all the stuff that you don't need... ;-)

i noticed some problems with iptables with the 2.4.14 kernel (iptables
locks when adding some rules), but haven't tested it again with newer
kernels...
