Kernel Size to big

Hello,

i have a sparc 20 and make an new kernel 2.4.18
all ist ok
now if i will boot this kernel , silo says kernel to great !!

The size are 2.7 MByte .

It is possible to reduce the kernel size ?

I build the kernel with
make vmlinux
