network install problems....

I am trying to install on Sparcstation 5 using rarpd/tftp and nfs. I can 
boot fine and yast2 starts with no problem. However the install dies 
each time with the following message

/usr/lib/Yast2/bin/Yast2: line 329: 1109 segmentation fault

and in the syslog I see

inst_execute_yast:921 command_ti = 
"/var/adm/mount/suse/inst-sys/sbin/inst_setup yast2"
yast2 return code is 35584 (errno = 2)
sync... ok

I also tried to install using ftp off of the ftp.suse.com but the 
install procedure never asks for the path so I was confused how this was 
supposed to work.

Any clues would be very gratefully received.
