I had this problem as well. I successfully installed onto a Sparcstation
5 using rarpd/tftp and nfs in the following way.

1. Install only the most basic system (minimum X if memory serves)
2. Afterwards go into the system, use yast1 to build the system desired.

I never did look into yast2 and see what the problem was, but choosing
the minimum install got me aorund the problem.
