ARGH!

Is there *any* news outlet in the entire world other than LWN that
didn't pick up the first educated guess Ted had on this subject and
immediately push it as certain? First Phoronix, then Slashdot, then
Heise, now this... almost every single point made in that article is
either based on supposition (which Ted said was supposition, but that
point seems to havt been lost) or has subsequently been found to be
inaccurate, but reading one bloody lkml thread enough to realise that
the problem is still under investigation and its cause is still unknown
is beyond them. Heck, reading it enough to realise that the bug
frequency is clearly very low seems to be hard. (Total number of people
known to be affected by this corruption: two. In all the world.)

(I'm impressed by the quality of these 'journalists', too. Every one of
us involved in the thread were obviously reachable by email. Guess how
many people checked to see if these stories were accurate before rushing
them to print? If you guessed a number less than one, you'd be right.
The only person whose reporting was suitably conditional was Jon Corbet
at LWN. But then Jon knows how free software development works...)
