Hi,

I think we have agreed (David, Me, Dag Wieer and <others>) that we're
trying different apporach with kernels.

The kernel *FILE* naming would be like before

kernel-2.4.21-15.TL.src.rpm
kernel-smp-2.4.21-15.TL.x86_64.rpm
kernel-2.4.21-15.TL.x86_64.rpm
kernel-doc-2.4.21-15.TL.x86_64.rpm
kernel-source-2.4.21-15.TL.x86_64.rpm

But the *INTERNAL* naming would be same as it's in RHEL3

like

Linux dual 2.4.21-15.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri May 14 01:50:40 EEST 2004 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and *MODULES* under

/lib/modules/2.4.21-15.ELsmp/

This will produce lot of confusion, but will make possible to build
(Dag for example) compatible kernel-module RPMS for RHEL3/Tao same
time. This provides compatibility for *OTHER* 3rd vedor modules too.

IMO this will be good while confusing.

Like

[builder-RUjOyD7G/[email protected] /]$ rpm -qa kernel-smp
kernel-smp-2.4.21-15.TL

and the

[builder-RUjOyD7G/[email protected] /]$ ls /boot/*2.4.21-15*
/boot/config-2.4.21-15.ELsmp /boot/System.map-2.4.21-15.ELsmp
/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.21-15.ELsmp
/boot/initrd-2.4.21-15.ELsmp.img /boot/vmlinux-2.4.21-15.ELsmp

id kind of confusing ......

PS. I got tired waiting David to finalize *the official tao kernel*.
Sorry David. If still do major mods, you'll have to pump up the
TL-version. I really want to get these out *now*

PSS. Give it at least two hours since you receive this before those
kernel-packages are actually there (my links sukcs. ISP has some kind
of limitter on 'foreign traffic' and i only get 15kB/s speed).
