I've already ranted to the wrong Tao mail list today, so I'll try to be civil. The problem I am having involves two situations and places me between a rock and a hard place. We use one of the cheaper KVMs here. As long as I use Tao 1 Update 2 with kernel 2.4.21-15, I have no problem, but Update 4 and Tao 4 Update 2 cause the mouse and monitor to become unstable. I have to install the Intel Pro/1000 GT NIC in all of the servers we use here, but the Update 2 does not recognize them. I did install Tao 1 Update 6 today and specified a PS/2 2-button mouse and a lower resolution monitor, and it seems to be OK for now, but I have read about instability after as much as an hour. It appears to take some time for the monitor to resync in X, but eventually does. My preference would be to update to 6, but this may break some things and I fear doing this on production servers. Can anyone tell me what I might need to do to get the same NIC support that Update 6 has using Update 2? Money always seems to drive our hardware decisions, and I don't think I can convince anybody to change what has been purchased. Many thanks to any who may be able to help.
