Hi! I don't have this exact same controller but I do have an Adaptec PATA raid controller. I RMA'ed it for the exact same reason (half of single drive performance) and the new controller didn't do any better. I RMA'ed it again and I now have a shiny new box still in shrink wrapped foil reminding me I should never, ever order another Adaptect raid controller again :) The controller even sucks when using Windows 2000 or XP (yuck!)
