I'm using slackware 8.0 now and was successful with modprobe ftape and ftape found a qic 117 tape drive. This is in the class of qic 80 and now hangs off of lp0. As of now there's nothing in /proc/scsi/scsi since I don't know what to write there. stinit also hasn't got stinit.def and there's no example stuff for qic 117 or qic 80 type drives in qic.def.examples and I downloaded and installed mt-st 0.7. Has anyone got my type of drive going with ftape who wouldn't mind sharing some knowledge? I figure to have tape as one backup possibility just in case a zip drive dies and to have the zip drive available in the event the tape drive dies.
