Tape to tape copy - DLT

Hi All,
anyone had luck with tape to tape copies on DLT's using DD? im trying to
copy DLT IV tapes backed up on a DLT 4000 drive and i have a DLT4000 and
DLT8000. No matter what drive i use to read or write ..the copy fails
saying i dont have enough space on the tape. If i dump the tape to a hard
disk, then write it back out it works no problem. I can confirm the
blocking factors and the compression is exactly the same on both tapes.

This has me pulling out my hair, dumping to disk then back out is VERY
time consuming and i have alot of tapes to copy.

kernel is 2.4.18 btw
