Hi, Unfortunately, I was not able to get to Portland for this hackfest (Linux Symposium). Nonetheless, I'm very happy to see that things are going well. Packaging for ltsp-cluster is pretty close to finish, and italc support is getting better, thanks to Stephane Graber. There is one student from the University of Sherbrooke that is currently working on Firefox to fix the memory issue we have with large images. His patch is about to get integrated into firefox 3. Another student did a research on pulseaudio to find correct setup for real time voice applications, and it's preliminary analysis shows that it's possible to get acceptable latencies for such applications, so that's also good news. Four students from the University of Berziet worked on NBD reconnexion issue and performance. Results shows that a thin-client that boots with NBD is about 44% faster than with NFS. Protocol is one aspect, but unionfs could also explain the speedup. They did a good job to identify the related problem to NBD reconnexion, but fix has yet to be done.
