looks like we're using adduser to add the user to groups, which useradd
doesn't really handle (at least on debian).
since it's already mangling /etc/group on the thin-client, we could
probably just use some sed expressions to add the user to the groups,
and that should be pretty distro-independent... we can hope, anyways.
although, seems like gadi just committed something using usermod...
