i don't really see that as not server-side, but merely shifting the
burden to the system administrator having to maintain all their .desktop
files.
if we then figure out a better way to initiate a localapp, the admin
will have to change all their .desktop files accordingly, and we'll need
to inform the sysadmin to change them.
to me, it seems much simpler to distribute a single brief script that
gets put into the .desktop files, and can be upgraded with the rest of
the packages.
though i'd like to note, the vast majority of the recent localapp
development had little to do with xrexec. :)
