my idea this morning was actually to do what we do with the initial
connection establishing with a sentinel...

instead of tacking on a "kill -1 $PPID" ... tack on a "echo
LTSPKILLTHISSESSION" and when we receive that, close the session with
"ssh -O exit" ... maybe it wouldn't fix warren's issue, but maybe it
will... seems potentially cleaner, at any rate.
