one small change- you'll need to use the --wait option to
ltsp-localapps, otherwise your session will be backgrounded and LDM will
restart:

LDM_XSESSION="ltsp-localapps --wait /etc/X11/Xsession"

i messed around with this idea a while back, although i didn't try it at the
Xsession level. it's a kind of ugly, but seemed to work fairly well.

you'll also need to trick LDM into getting the ldminfod from the thin client
itself rather than the server, in order to get the right session/language
information.
