Did I say his work is krappy?  Look back at the thread.

I support Oliver and the work he's done.  I only mentioned that there's 
room within the project to also support smaller hardware (both old and 
new).

I didn't say it's required that we MUST support it, but if people want 
to put their efforts into providing code that works, then that's 
something that we should at least consider.

If your needs are satisfied using new hardware, great, your needs are 
already being met.
