We have an older, ldm-less implementation which is lighter on
CPU/RAM/network; you can try deploying this one on a spare drive
if all else fails (bootloader is in Russian by default, I'm yet
to update the images and build English-by-default one too):

No localapps but maybe the difference in transport helps.
