Bob and Steven - thanks both for so much for prompt responses and comments. I hadn't chosen the 'shared' option in cups on the server and choosing that makes everything look right and show up as needed on the client. Just need to actually get into the room with the printer and check it's spitting out the paper! I must say that the support from this forum is second to none!
