Guys, by testing the stock Ubuntu MATE 18.04.1 + updates installation,
you compare your setup to thousands of other installations that work fine.

If the default setup doesn't work for you, it's a local problem;
from networking to certain hardware, drivers etc.
Comparing different distros, different kernels, different DEs,
only makes the problem harder to diagnose.
There were no changes in LTSP that would cause "browsers to hang".

Mark, if I understood correctly you only saw your browser hang
a couple of times; I it's the same issue; it might have been caused
by a number of unrelated reasons.
