What would be the effect of instability or no reconnections? Maybe we 
experienced some and just don't know that NBD was the reason... Anyone 
here with an example?

One single time in the last year or so I found that the Mate desktop 
hadn't loaded completely. I rebooted, and everything has run fine since 
then. Maybe this was related to NBD?

I posted a question the other day that sometimes my Mate desktop pushes 
the icons around randomly. I suspected failing save/load procedures, 
maybe this has to do with NBD?

Speed is a crucial point, so does it make sense to give up speed for 
stability?

Ok, best of both worlds means, speed AND stability?

That would make sense. But you should make a decent script which changes 
this without destroying other (maybe manually made) edits in the config 
files. Do you think that is possible?
