Did you try the -d option on dhcpcd :
    dhcpcd -d
I have never tried it but according to the man page it should then log 
diagnostics.    Which I assume can be displayed using
   dmesg

i am trying to boot on the floppy but it looks like the computer is not
getting an addess from the dhcp server.  i am looking for any help, the
network card i think is properly detected. any pointers are wellcome.
