I do this on other (large) lists I manage, and it's very effective at keeping cruft off of lists - stuff some people intentionally post (pics, HTML mail, vcards, etc), and stuff that wasn't intentionally sent. If there's ever a real need to send a file, people have places to post them on http or ftp, and just post the URL.
