I'll walk you through restoring your backups.

I don't do data recovery, I'm a programmer.

I created tomsrtbt because I knew I'd break things. Which I do. But,
I don't use tomsrtbt to fix bad hard drives, I use it to restore tape
backups. It is no accident that tomsrtbt includes a lot of scsi support,
mt, tar, cpio, pax, dd, and nc, and cdrom support, in case you put your
backup on a CD. I have 3 Exabytes, one a 10-tape changer.

I have never actually tried to fix a hard drive that really was in need,
I've never used debugfs, I've never manually edited a partition table
without saved copy of it. I've never had to...

If you needed something special added to tomsrtbt, you could pay me to
do it, I prostitute myself every day and am willing to do anything, see
http://not.toms.net/twiki/bin/view/Tomsrtbt/SpecialCustomizations.

Maybe someone on the list would like to work on a list of data recovery
services and/or companies? Such a list would be welcome on the wiki...
