Did this but still got an address of 1.1.1.1. 

Discovered it worked fine on other machines that don't have a PCMCIA network cards.

It seems that /etc/pcmcia/network is setting up the network and not rc.custom.gz I suppose because there
isn't a network interface at that point. I've looked at /etc/pcmcia/network and can't see how/where the
network interface gets setup up when dhcpcd-- doesn't set an address.

Am I going to have to edit /etc/pcmcia/network and rebuild to get this to work on PCMCIA networked
laptops? Or is there another way?
