For a case, I like the Lian-Li PC343B;

As far as controllers go, I prefer to go with Promise controllers, I've
never had any kind of issue with them, using stock kernel drivers.

Biggest challenge may be finding a motherboard with the right balance of
bus interfaces for the chosen setup.

My own file server uses a Chenbro case (because the PC343B hadn't been
made yet at the time)


As far as "sata multipliers" go, I haven't even heard about them..
