I have rebuild proftpd enabling support for mysql and I am now testing it.
Your solutions seems better if (as I have understand), require no proftpd 
rebuild, but only some configuration tricks.
If you can rebuild it for the current TSL 2.2 and give me the hints to 
test/use it I am obviously very interested ;-)
