Compiling module

Hi list,

I have some new Intelboards with a e1000 nic, but this module is not  
working with TSL2.2. I dowloaded the source of the module from Intel.

Can I simply compile only this module (the Makefile from Intel won't  
help here), or do I have to copy it to the kernel source tree and do a  
make menuconfig modules modules_install?
