Hmmm... I've often wondered about using a TV screen and one of these "mono" camera-based, moderate-power microscope rigs. I've seen these setup at Fry's. I'm guessing that this kind of thing might just work for soldering surface mount components, because you end of getting a kind of "stereo" effect my moving the work and/or the soldering iron tip. I do know that soldering under a monocular microscope is hard...and very tiring. Why don't you buy one and let us know how it works! :-) It says "Guaranteed Satisfaction or Money Back!"
