The USB loader concept is fine if the box had a fully functional USB port included. More a case modification than anything, really, since the USB is already on the motherboard, as you say. Make it out-of-the-box capable of using USB drive and we're getting somewhere. The only mod the board really absolutely needs, IMHO, is more memory for the linux image (though other things like more RAM might be nice). Though I never did do any benchmarking to see how well the unit holds up under a serious load, so I can't say for sure it would 100% handle the sorts of tasks I'd have in mind for it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dr. Craig Hollabaugh" <[email protected]> To: "ActionHack Mailing List" <actionhack-W7/[email protected]> Sent: Monday, May 10, 2004 7:56 PM Subject: Re: [actionhack] Anyone else get email from ActionTec? > On Mon, 2004-05-10 at 16:23, Chris Bennett wrote: > > 3) a built-in way to easily recover "dead" devices that have had bad > > images loaded > > This is already built in, use the USB loader. > > > -- > ------------------------------------------------------------ > Dr. Craig Hollabaugh, [email protected] > Author of Embedded Linux: Hardware, Software and Interfacing > www.embeddedlinuxinterfacing.com > > > __ > ActionHack Mailing List - ActionHack-W7/[email protected] > http://www.express.org/mailman/listinfo/actionhack > http://www.embeddedlinuxinterfacing.com/wiki.php/ActiontecDualModem > __ ActionHack Mailing List - ActionHack-W7/[email protected] http://www.express.org/mailman/listinfo/actionhack http://www.embeddedlinuxinterfacing.com/wiki.php/ActiontecDualModem
