As Patrick mentioned, this is probably the wrong list for this kind of 
problems. I also don't have used the modem for its purpose yet. However, I 
did use it as dial-IN service (with a modified firmware of course, but still 
with the original kernel and pppd), and it ran fine for several weeks without 
any problem. So I can still not promise, that I can help you to fix your 
device, but we can try to isolate the cause of the lock ups.

First of all, as soon as you modem has locked up, please try to find out if it 
is still pingable (open the command prompt and enter 'ping 192.168.x.x', with 
the '192.168.x.x' replaced by the IP address of your DPCM). If it IS 
pingable, try to log into the shell (enter 'telnet 192.168.x.x', log in with 
username 'root' and password 'uClinux').

If it is not pingable, the kernel has locked up or the CPU has crashed - maybe 
a faulty device or a temperature problem. In theory, it could be a Linux 
kernel problem, but then mine would lock up, too. Make sure that your DPCM 
doesn't get too hot. Don't put anything on top of the modem case.

If it is pingable, but you can't login with telnet, the device might be out of 
memory. Maybe due to some memory leak.

You could also try to open your device and tell us which flash chip has been 
put into your modem. Mine has a intel flash, and I think somebody on the list 
mentioned that his one has an SST flash. The kernel support for SST flash has 
been added by actiontec, whereas most other modifications to the kernel has 
been done by Conexant. Maybe actiontec isn't that good at kernel level 
programming (and judging from what they did to mtdram.c, they are evil ;-)).
