Using a  calculator takes  more time than  thought process.  If you  can visualize the math  you come to an answer before you even enter  the first number  into a calculator.   

Human processing power is the limiting  factor. Sadly I  can only calculate basic  problems this way.  If it's too  advanced I have to use the ol ti-89
