The problem of the code generation not working is a problem with Umbrello 1.3 not working properly with packages. You will have to move the classes out of the package or try Umbrello 1.4 which will have a beta version along with KDE 3.4 sometime next week. The crash is hard to debug, it works for me, hopefully Umbrello 1.4 will be more stable.
