Well it's kind of hard to say given the amount of information provided.
If you build with -DDEBUG it will compile in logging you can examine for
problems (see src/api/config.c and look for the logging functions). 

If that is not sufficient then I've found ethereal useful, take a look
at the packets going back and forth, the protocol is all in plain
english (XML) so its pretty easy to read.

FWIW, I've found some of the routers to be buggy with respect to UPnP,
so it might be a problem with the router firmware, but you can only tell
that by debugging the transaction.
