Call it whatever you want. Security measures that are cracked in hours
are obviously not very good. However, instead of sending "helpful
suggestions" to mailing lists, why not give 10% of the money you give
to Microsoft to a free software project of your choice? If .doc and
.xls formats are important to you, give the OpenOffice.org people
money. Send those projects *real* bug reports, not just "helpful
suggestions." Writing code is not the only way you can contribute to
free software. At least then you can say that you are lighting a
candle, not just cursing the darkness.

(Incidentally, the Microsoft file formats are anything but "de facto
standards." There is no unique MS-Word format, and I often see strange
formatting caused by incompatibilities between versions of MS-Word.)
