More Keybinding

The single biggest productivity enhancer for me in
Linux is keybinding.  I use Gnome and spend most of
my time in Emacs.  Both allow virtually unlimited
keybinding - my hands rarely leave the keyboard,
and hitting a key chord is faster than using an
analog device to target an icon.

What I'd like to see is more applications offering
this kind of tunability.  The best implementation
I've seen is in the GIMP, which works as follows

while working in the GIMP. You do this by placing the mouse cursor over
the menu item and then typing the desired keystrokes. As you type the
keystrokes they appear to the right of the menu entry. The next time the
