Yes!  Thank you.  I am so tired of hearing about rpm dependency hell.  I
have run into pkgadd dependency hell in Solaris if I did not get all
deps on something from solarisfreeware (download it and the deps and
only grab the app pkg when I got to install for example).

Hell, on my old slack box you never had a clue kind of Windows Freeware
style whether an app would work or not until you try because the dep
testing was so utterly frickin' limited.

Don't even get me started about the dangerous behavior of different
windows app whacking each other's dlls like some mad f*cked up game.  

I have no idea about macs and admit it right away.

The solution for this is dead simple.  I package software and it ain't
that frickin' hard.

1) Though shall not ship a rpm of an app built against any library not
supported by the distro for which you compiled the app for without
supplying that library rpm in the same frickin' directory as the
application.

2) When this is not possible all such beta-on-the-edge of disaster libs
should be statically linked in until those libs become part of the
distro. (I know static linking sucks but so does gnucash, gnumeric and
evolution all fighting over the set of three or some damn libs they all
want different versions of).

3)  If this is not possible the newer versions of libs should be
included from a /usr/lib/<app_name> source so as to not cause problems
with another app.  

4) Though shall list all deps and their devel packages right there on
the website next to aforementioned rpm.  

5) Distros shall be hit by clue by four if they do not tie together
their package manager/install rpm app and some sort of apt/urpmi
solution.  Come on people apt-get is great till the user downloads one
rpm from the net and the user is still stuck on their desktop wondering
why the damn rpm did not install.  

Am I the only that sees the logic with this?
