I have hacked the registry here and there out of necessity - I've even been able to fix things (and screw things up). The biggest thing about the registry is that it just seems like such a cludge. It feels like it was never meant to be what it has become, and now that it's in place nobody can find a good way around it - and we're stuck with it. But... I only use Windows either on VMware on top of Linux for the purpose of testing software, or on occasion for Windows games - which isn't that often. So thankfully the chances of me hacking the registry is slim. The statement "I felt compelled to help" I take to be a very good sign. Congratulations, Alan. :-) And thanks.
