I.M.H.O. there is one easy solution: use the red hat run-level editor
(or do it manually) to stop Kudzu from running every time your system 
boots and configure your box manually. Similarly, you can disable
SuSEConfig from running at boot time.

Kudzu is probably useful if your hardware changes every other day.
