I fail to make the distinction between the two, both seem to be closely 
entertwined and both come from GNU.

To be fair, this is not a major nuisance, it never takes me a great deal of time 
to fix (30 minutes usually), and since the resulting executables far outperform 
anything I can make run under windows I'm not unhappy with gcc/glibc. It's 
more like "Oh shit! Not again" once every 2 or 3 years :^)
