Perhaps you can give us an example of why you would have to
do this?  I have machines i have not logged in as root for months
at a time and they are in daily use as desktop workstations.

I know users who don't know the root password on their own
machine, and they have been useing them daily for months.

Chances are, if you are finding this a major problem you're
doing something un-necessary or wrong as a user
or simply not useing the correct tools as root.
