Re: Shut Up With The Open Source Politics, OK?

Greetings.

   Although this is a tangential topic I would like to respond to it.

   When you get enough intelligent people who figure out that their voice 
actually matters, suddenly they start using it.

   The reason that Linux people write about evil corporations hasn't simply 
got to do with Linux; it's about control.  There have forever been battles 
for control and there always will be.

   The technical community is generally more aware of the subtle moves made by 
tech companies who are vying for more control, certainly far more than the 
general public who is more interested in network TV or entertainment - they 
don't think as much over the fact that their VCR tapes which did their job 
nicely have been replaced by encrypted DVD's and that that technology is far 
less accessible than the VCR technology ever was.

   I take your statement to mean "I want to kill the messenger" or "please let 
me go back to sleep".  I am hoping that is not what you mean.

   Corporations will continue to vie for control whether the public has a 
voice against it or not.  In my opinion I see this in much the opposite way: 
not enough of the public is informed on the control being sought by the 
Powers That Be.  If they were more informed, there would be an even larger 
amount of writing containing moral outrage than already exists.
