Real World Linux Conference in Toronto

Dear All:

Firstly, I have no business affiliation with Real World Linux Inc.
I am just posting this to let you know of the conference which will be
held in Toronto April 28th - 30th, 2003.

I talked with the show's owner, Bruce Cole and asked him about the show
and conference.  He said there was a heavy Government component.  He's
got some very high-level speakers and presenters coming such as:

René Bonvanie, VP Oracle 9i and OTN Marketing ORACLE Corporation
Miquel de Icaza - GNOME & MONO Proj. Leader, Co-Founder & Pres. Ximian,

Martin Fink - VP and CTO of Business Critical Systems, Hewlett-Parckard

Rick Fuchs - VP Strategy and Operations, IBM.

Further to that, Bruce said that he had had discussion with senior
levels of Government and they were both receptive and on-side with
Linux.  The issue seems to be the 'ground troops' - developers and
administrators who are concerned about moving to Linux.  They are the
ones offering resistance.

Secondly, I have it from two sources that Microsoft is 'playing games'
with the Toronto District School Board.  There is some sort of back-end
agreement going on and Linux is right off the agenda.  I'm sure Apple
should be concerned too.
