No, not until I unplug the usb cable, plug in the serial end of the pl2303 
cable, disconnect and reconnect the pl2303 from the front panel usb-1.2 
hub I have, and restart the daemon.  The daemon is config file coded to 
look for /dev/ttyUSB0, but that's fixable with vim if I knew how to fix 
it.  I know nothing about howto configure this as an HID access device.  
And the comm is two-way at least for the serial path as I can control the 
ups from the Bulldog gui when the serial cable is in use.

I've also found the serial cable doesn't connect, even if the /dev/ttyUSB0 
device is created, if its plugged into a 7 port ALPS hub I also have.  
However a logitek 802-11 mouse dongle and 2 other gizmos are working when 
plugged into that usb-2.0 hub.

So how do I address it as an HID device in a manner compatible with their 
supplied software?
