OTOH, if I turn on the hiddev debugging, the decoding that does looks pretty close to correct, but the machine isn't usable for anything but a reset button reboot since the data is echo'd to every tty on the system. I couldn't even do a startx. But between that, and the other admonitions, I'm beginning to think its a lost cause. Now, if I could figure out how to make nut work, that might help.
