It's virtually guaranteed to crash your system. You should realize that you can't rmmod usbcore without first unloading everything that uses it. That includes ehci-hcd, ohci-hcd, uhci-hcd, and any other USB drivers. You also have to unmount /proc/bus/usb if it is mounted. You can change some module parameters on-the-fly.
