Thanks for forwarding this on to us.

Huawei folks,

The patch was originally accepted (on December 2006) because it was the only
way to get the modem side of the device to work.

See the first 4 emails in this thread:

Then, in March, Rui Santos wrote to say this patch should be removed noting
that you can use *both* parts of the device with the following software:
  http://www.kanoistika.sk/bobovsky/archiv/umts/

I responded back saying I was OK removing it but I was hoping to get
confirmation from someone that the specified method worked _prior_ to
removing the patch.

See the last 2 emails in the above thread. I emailed Johann and asked him to
test Rui's solution before I removed the patch.

That said, I'm happy to remove it if you can confirm that the software
referenced above does in fact work in linux to allow a user to access both
parts of the device, or if you as the manufacture have some other way for
linux users to access the modem half of the device.

Greg is indeed the USB maintainer, Matthew Dharm is the USB-Storage
maintainer, and I'm the maintainer for unusual_devs.h.
