My e1000 adapter puts these messages in my log: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready Davicom is only putting this in: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready My moschip based USB to Ethernet adapter does not put any ADDRCONF messages in the log but it works without problems. I tested the Davicom link some more, ifconfig down/up make Davicom kind of work. I can use it for pings, but more complicated stuff is suffering from dropped transmitted packets.
