That's strange.  Can you post the dmesg log from 2.6.20.14?

To tell the truth, I don't know exactly where to look for the problem's 
source.  It may be necessary for you to try various intermediate 
kernels between 2.6.20 and 2.6.21 to zero in on the crucial change.  
The largest number of changes was in 2.6.21-rc1, so that's where you 
should start.
