Yes, that is exactly what caused this.  David and Kay's future plans for
HAL/udev/DeviceKit tie neatly into allowing this to be easily handled by
that package.  Oh, and Matthew Gerrit making fun of me for not accepting
this patch earlier also probably helped out a bit :)
